I try to spend time every morning and evening taking in the heady beauty of creamy brushed-cotton dinnerplate blooms bound to bare branches against the early April sky. On Saturday I was thinking about setting out the leaf lettuce in the studio garden and on Sunday I awoke to a day-long snowstorm. Ten inches of snow later, my plans for gardening are postponed indefinitely. It’s time to take joy in the unexpected.
